The Heart Truth® educational session for women celebrated with the centerpiece of The Heart Truth as The Red Dress®, “Go Red Day” for women’s heart health awareness is a success.
This National Wear Red Day® celebration is a biennial event, which is organized by GFWC McAlester Fortnightly. Proceeds benefit American Heart Association of Tulsa, OK, which provides informational brochures and Red Dress Pins for this event. Proceeds also benefit Club scholarship and leadership development programs.
Our attached program includes Salad Luncheon, Physician Education, Style Show from 8 local dress shops and many Door Prizes donated from our community.
Dr. Jinok Chung, Cardiologist with Oklahoma Heart Physicians, narrated a powerpoint presentation explaining women’s heart health with statistics stating women tend to be busy and don’t take time for their own health.

GFWC McAlester Fortnightly Past President 2004-2005, Dolores Miller, Passed away Thurs. June 23, 2015 evening.
A Peace Lilly has been sent from GFWC McAlester Fortnightly along with a sympathy card.
Any members who are in town and available are welcome to attend visitation and/or funeral
to pay respects to Dolores.
During the 2015 GFWC McAlester Fortnightly Spring Banquet, Dolores Miller was awarded the GFWC gold 50 year service pin for her many years of volunteer work beginning in Virginia when her husband was stationed in the Air Force, continuing throughout the United States. Dolores performed volunteer service within GFWC McAlester Fortnightly for the past 40 years. She is credited with establishing the Casual Gourmet Department in 1994 while retaining her membership in the Homemakers Department and holding the Treasurer’s position. Dolores graced this organization by leading it as President during 2004-2005. Dolores was pinned by Ada Nell Ward, Casual Gourmet member and good friend.
